All female Boston Metal band. The 1993 EP, released through Crash And Burn and produced by Ken Cmar at Squid Hell, featured a membership of vocalist / bassist Linnea Mills, guitarists Janet Egan and Justine Covault with Gay Hathaway on drums. Hathaway's scene tradition included stints with HOPELESSLY OBSCURE, LIFE IN GENERAL and THE MYRTLES. MALACHITE notably won the 1994 Boston Music Award for 'Outstanding Hard Rock Band', presented with this award by members of AEROSMITH. The group line-up shifted shape to incorporate bass player Jhen Kobran. The group, Egan, Hathaway and Couvault, who switched to bass to replace Kobran, regrouped evolved into the less edgier SWANK, issuing a 7" single 'Superfly' and 1995 EP 'Gutless Crap for Drunk Teens', before folding. Egan joined THE TULIPS then HEIDI in mid 1999 and also became known for her role as WBCN's daytime DJ Juanita the Scene Queen. Hathaway teamed up with PRICKLY.
A brief 2004 MALACHITE reunion involved singer Ray Neades, guitarists Janet Egan and Justine Covault, HEIDI bassist Sandy Monticello and drummer Gay Hebert.
