Naz Nomad and the Nightmares was a side-project of Dave Vanian and the Damned, beginning in 1984 with a concurrent album release: "Hand Daddy the Knife, Cindy". The album was designed to look like a re-issued, 1967 soundtrack album, from an imagined, low-budget American horror film, in the mold of Roger Corman. A copyright notice on the front cover claimed the film was "Copyright 1967 American Screen Destiny Pictures", and credits are given for the film's stars, director and producer.
The original '84 lineup of Naz Nomad was the same as the Damned's touring members at the same time, under aliases and adopted personas:
Dave Vanian: Naz Nomad on Vocals
Roman Jugg: Sphinx Svenson on guitars/Ulla on keyboards
Bryn Merrick: Buddy Lee Junior on bass
Rat Scabies: Nick Detroit on drums
