Formed in June of 1982 in Isla Vista, Ca. Dissolved in June of 1987 in San Francisco, Ca. The roots of what would become the Whitefronts reach back into the late seventies, when musical affinites first developed between three high school friends in Tustin, California. Dave Costanza and Karl Bartlett played trumpet and trombone, respectively, in their high school marching band and had attended jazz camp with such modernist luminaries as Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson. Bill Brooks was a Gibson-toting literary genius transplanted from Texas. Costanza and Bartlett would soon be taking up guitar and bass, and together with Brooks, the three would form the core of the nascent Whitefronts.
